These are the rules of Generation Next; disobeying the rules will result in an appropriate action, which may or may not be listed at the end of the rule. If a rule does not have an admin reaction to it, then assume that the reaction will be determined by the admin based on the seriousness of the transgression.
General Board Rules
1. No swearing. I don't mind the swear words in particular, but the way most people deliver them are vulgar and offend most other people. To be safe, refrain from having a potty mouth. Be warned, there is an automatic censor built into this board, and if you write a swear word, it will be mangled to the point that you look like a fool. I removed the following words from the censor list: damn, penis, and vagina. Damn, I think, is the only good synonym for "blast", and it rolls better in regular speech. Penis and vagina are totally acceptable means of referring to the male and female genitalia. If I see, or catch word of, someone using any one of this three words in a vulgar way, then I will investigate the incident, and take the appropriate action. Misuse of the words penis and vagina will result in automatic ban, because I do not tolerate that form of childish behavior.
2. If you have a problem with another member, please try to settle the matter in a peaceful way without letting the dispute ruin everyone else's time here at the board. The best way to solve these differences is to talk privately using the private message system. If you do not think that you can settle your differences with another member, please ask an administrator for help. The admin will determine who is in the right, and use their power in the fairest way possible.
3. No sexual discussions. This is not an "adults only" role-play message board. I can understand if you want your character to have a relationship with another member's character, but keep the physical touching to hugging and kissing. I will delete any posts that have to do with sexual material and warn the perpetrators. I will ban for a second offense.
4. Rules are subject to change or for more to be added when the admin recognizes a need for it.
Dueling Rules
1. Be knowledgeable of the rules for the game as they were made by Konami and Upperdeck Entertainment. There are new formats which are posted in the "Duel Formats" board. The new formats will only have rule changes listed, not all the rules since a majority of the rules will not be changed.
2. This board follows the Traditional Format of the limited and semi-limited cards list which can be found at entertainment.upperdeck.com/yugioh/en/gameplay/forbidden/traditional_current.aspx. The Singles Division in the Professional Circuit follows the Advanced Format found at entertainment.upperdeck.com/yugioh/en/gameplay/forbidden/advanced_current.aspx.
3. Please list the amount of cards you have in your hand at the end of each turn. Also, please list the cards you have in your graveyard. This makes it easier to play the game.
4. You can choose the cards you draw, but this does not mean you can draw Exodia on your first turn and beat your opponents every time. Exodia can only be used if ten turns in the duel have passed, and you still need to collect the pieces of Exodia in your hand one turn at a time.
5. There are only one copy of the God Cards, Legendary Demon cards, and the five pieces of Exodia. There are only three copies of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Kaiba has the Blue-Eyes White Dragons. The Legendary Demons are sealed on Duel Academy Island. The Gods have disappeared off the face of the Earth, and Exodia is somewhere on the bottom of the sea. Only through official board role-play can a character gain any one of these cards.
6. You can only use cards released in the English region so far. Once a new booster pack is released, you can begin adding those cards to your deck by either buying them in the stores, or starting your character off with them. You can buy cards not released in English from the Industrial Illusions store.
7. Each member may have up to three characters, that means one cannon and two original characters.
Role-Play Rules
1. No controlling other people's characters. You cannot make anybody else's character do anything without their consent. You can refer to a character's recent action in your post, but you cannot make another person's character do anything.
2. Each character starts with $100. Duel Academy students get an allowance of $100 each month. Professional duelists get $100 for participating in an official duel, and gets an additional $50 for winning. The World Champion, Team Champions, and Hardcore Champion get $200 per official duel, and gets an additional $200 for successfully defending their championship. You must record the current amount of money each of your characters possess, and update it every time it is necessary. We are using the honor system for this, but if need be, your current worth can be calculated based on your history on the board.
3. If your character is joining Duel Academy, you must first complete a two step process before you can post in the Duel Academy boards. First, you must take the Written Exams; there are three of these, one for each dorm. You can choose which exam you wish to take. If you take the Obelisk Blue Written Exam, and fail it, you are automatically bumped down to Ra, and must complete the Ra Yellow Written Exam. So on and so forth until you get to Slifer. When you pass a written exam, you can continue to the Gate Keeper of the dorm you wish to enter for your Practical Exam. You can take the Practical Exam as many times as you need until you finally win, so you don't have to worry about being bumped down a rank.
4. Each member can have three characters, either original or from the anime. Since anime characters are in limited supply, you can claim only one, so choose wisely. Staff members can have as many more characters as is necessary to carry out their responsibilities.
5. Only enrolled students at Duel Academy can make use of the facilities there. That includes the Duel Arena, Store, and dorms. Likewise, only registered Professional Duelists can post in the Pro Circuit boards.
6. You can buy single cards from the stores situated in the role play world, but their inventories are not very large. If you want a specific card, and don't trust your chances of getting that card in a booster pack, then you can place an order with a store to get that card. The waiting time between ordering and getting the card is one role play day. In real world terms, you must duel once before your card arrives. Once a card is ordered, it is added to the inventory permanently.
